In 2021, a group of beach-loving San Clemente residents decided to band together to advocate for real solutions to our real problems. Our beaches are disappearing fast, and not enough action is being taken to protect them. The core group formed in the south end of town, where we watched over a half mile of wide sandy beach erode away literally over the span of three years. We watched as the railroad piled up 50 feet of rock where our children used to play. We watched as this erosion has spread northward, expanding into the State Beach. We are tired of watching, and decided to work so that all of San Clemente Beaches don’t end up as big rock piles. Since then, we have expanded to include all of San Clemente beaches. We are working cooperatively with the City of San Clemente, the State Parks, OCTA, California Coastal Commission, Orange County Board of Supervisors, and other elected politicians and regulatory agencies to try to enact real protections for our coastline.
