BOARD CHAIR

Gary has a lifetime commitment to public service. A former captain with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, he has lived in San Clemente since his retirement, and been extremely active in San Clemente issues, advocating on many fronts and serving in San Clemente’s Public Safety Commission.

PRESIDENT

Suzie is a resident of south San Clemente and a former Professor of Oceanography at El Camino College. She has 35 years experience in marine sediment dynamics, environmental geology and hydrogeology. Dr. Whitelaw has been internationally recognized for her work promoting environmental restoration.

SECRETARY

Joe is a lifelong beach-lover and surfer, having spent much of his childhood on the sands of Dana Strand and the last 28 years in San Clemente. He’s a power utility consultant, specializing in communications and training development, and looks forward to helping spread the word about saving our beaches.

TREASURER

John has lived in south San Clemente for 30 years and is an avid waterman — surfer, paddle boarder, spear fisher, and boater. A former Commissioner with Beaches, Parks and Recation, John has a keen interest in protecting San Clemente’s coastline and currently serves on the City’s Coastal Advisory Committee.

COMMUNICATIONS

Alexis is a lifelong ocean enthusiast, passionate for the preservation of our coastline. A native Californian going back four generations, Alexis spends time paddleboarding, beach going and hiking over our coastal regions. As a career marketing specialist, she helps organizations reach and resonate with consumers.

SURF ADVOCATES

Julian is an avid sportsman (watching family sports, dying with Philly pro teams) who was changed by surfing 20 years ago.  An ex-surgeon who now works in diagnostics, he’s trying to keep the “stoke” in  San Clemente by actively engaging in our beach community.
